I have been to Roatan many times and have visited many resorts on Roatan, but Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort, I’d have to say is one of my favourites, and I could not dive. I had just come out of the hospital and had 9 surgeries on my leg, but had my group already booked, so I had to go. Getting to Roatan out of LAX is not that hard, fly to Dallas and fly South right into Roatan’s own airport! We arrived at the airport after an overnight flight and the resort staff were there waiting for us and helped to get us into to their 2 air-conditioned shuttles as they loaded our bags onto the third shuttle.
The ride was surprisingly quick even though there was a national holiday coming up. Typical island road construction was going on, but we passed it with ease. Once arriving at the resort we did a quick check-in and headed for lunch. We had the all-inclusive package, which included alcohol, which was great for divers, they can really eat a lot! Once done, we headed to our rooms which were just up the hill and not all that bad for my bumb leg! The rooms were spacious and offered two ways to stay cool; air conditioning or ceiling fans, I preferred the ceiling fan! It had a large bathroom with all the necessities that are needed; shampoo, conditioner, skin lotion, soap, glasses and a hair dryer if needed, I did not need! The beds were very comfortable and had too many blankets for me, changed daily!
Since I could not dive, the first time in thirty plus years of leading groups, I had plenty to do, relax, relax and more relaxing. Once we had everyone checked into the dive shop, we checked out their 48′ long boats, which offered plenty of room for divers. Plenty of space for cameras, rinse tanks for the mask, potty on board, 2-tank stations for the divers and they offered NITROX.
It was just 10 to 25 minutes from each dive site, plenty of time to set up your gear and then sit back and marvel and the different shades of blue water and the occasional flying fish flying by! My group were broken up into 2 groups making it plenty of room on the boats for the group of 20. They had 2 dive guides for each group and twice during the week they had a photo professional on board to film the week of diving. Since I had dived Roatan many times, I was just jealous of my divers coming back the first day saying that they had spotted 2 Sea Horses! I knew the week was going to be great. Each day the groups would come back sharing their pictures of all the site they have seen and argue as to who saw it first! The marvelled at the topography and explained to me about all the canyons and swim-throughs they encountered and the visibility that they were enjoying. The last day of diving they went to the West End national park where everything is protected and wanted to stay an extra week for all the schools of fish that they saw and the many turtles. During the week some took a day off from diving and some went hiking, some horseback riding and other went down to the private beach and just took some time to relax!
The resort knew it was my birthday, the day we were leaving, so mid-week they had a celebration outside and brought in a local band and dancers from the nearby village. Lots of food, drink and a special cake for me to share! Their bar area offered nightly programs where their photo Pro offered the group a video of their week of diving, for a price and another presenter was working on bringing back the coral that had been hit by storms by planting trees where they hung broken pieces of coral that would then later grow to twice their size and then the divers would go and plant them in an area where they would glue the pieces to rocky area where the coral was depleted. In just over a year they had already seen the growth of new coral. Several of our divers worked in teams to do what they could do to help the project along! All said for the week of diving, seeing the sites and relaxing around the pool that they would definitely come back!

Have now stayed at TBR twice and was very pleased with the resort. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is perfect to relax in after diving. The food is very good and plentiful. This time, I was a solo traveler, and they were able to not only waive the single supplement, but also upgrade me to an oceanfront room at no additional cost! They also provide some entertrainment a few nights of the week. Will stay here again.

I’m delighted to announce that I’m the Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort winner from World’s Best Dives September drawing. I won 7 nights accommodations, 5 days of 3 boat dives per day, all meals, and airport transfers for one person. I’ll add my husband to my trip, and we plan to upgrade to the all inclusive package, which seems like the way to go for us.
I’m so excited that I’ll get to have an adventure in Roatan. I’ve been educating myself about the island for quite a while, and websites and online communities like this one are valuable resources for my research. Roatan has been on my travel wish list for some time, so this win will finally make my dream a reality.
Turquoise Bay looks like it will give us an experience of a lifetime, and I’ll be sure to share my review once we return from our vacation. Until then I look forward to continue reading your reviews, so please keep them coming. Thank you.
Thank you to World’s Best Dives and Turquoise Bay for awarding me this prize package. I can’t wait to use it!

I found the resort to be “Excellent” overall. The room service and accommodations were great. The dive master did all he could to make the dives interesting and beautiful. The pool and beach were as advertised. Kayaking was fun. The food was plentiful.

Eighteen of us made our way to the pristine beauty that has is tucked away on the private shores of Turquoise Bay Resort in Roatan! Yes, quiet, pristine, white sand with beautiful sun sets when the clouds cooperate! BUT, my favorite of all was the staff, they worked very hard to keep people happy from first remembering and learning each of our names very quickly to ensuring that our drinks were always full and that food was deliciously prepared! The DIVE OPERATION was state of the art! They are very laid back, flexible and serving! Our gear was stored in the shop in wonderful lockers and if you left it out to dry before storing, they would even put it away for you in your locker. Everything was numbered so it was pretty easy for them to track your gear! They also loaded the boat daily and put your gear together. Just one quick overlook and gear check was all it took to be diving!! As I get older, that is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Nice size boats, lots of room! Weather was not the best for us….lots of trade winds and a bit choppy but that didn’t stop the die hard boat (which was half of our group)…the other half — well — we had to get afternoon naps, skipping that 3rd tank but we woke just in time to greet them back with cold beer! I can’t say enough about this property!! I also want to tell you that DEPARTURE FEES ARE NOW INCLUDED IN YOUR AIRFARE which makes budgeting for the week very easy if you are counting! We did a few side trips, one to mangroves by huge canoe type thing, and two zip line courses…Wonderful stay, wonderful people…bring lots of tip money — because they deserve it!! Happy diving! Oh by the way, please please please never forget your bug spray…It is your best friend in Roatan!

We are just back from a one-week stay. Our trip was dive oriented and we were able to dive to our hearts content logging 16 dives during our 1 week stay. The staff at the resort, as well as the dive operation, was friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and our room was spacious, well decorated and clean.
The resort is ideal to relax and is very quiet in comparison to resort located in West End. The private beach is beautiful and we had the reefs to ourselves. In fact, we never encountered any other dive boats during our dives, which is definitely nice.
Turquoise Bay is an ideal location for anyone wanting to relax in a calm and private location and is perfect for divers who prefer to steer away from crowded dive sites.

This is my kind of dive resort!! Small yet comfortable with friendly staff who actually get to know you. The rooms were simple yet clean and comfortable. From day one the wait staff knew the names of everyone in our group and the bartender remembered my preferred drink! There is a long beautiful beach on a private lagoon but the sand fleas can be bad so don’t forget your bug spray. This resort is geared mostly for divers but non-divers will enjoy the beach and pool, plus the hotel can arrange shore excursions. The food was excellent! This is a remote location about half way up the island and away from the noise of the west end. If you are looking for a quiet dive vacation this is the place on Roatan.
